Yunnan University of Business Management

Yunnan University of Business Management, approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education, is a full-time practical-oriented undergraduate university with the qualification of issuing diplomas independently. It was founded in 1992. The University was titled as a Provincial Demonstration Vocational College in Yunnan Province in 2011. In 2014, it was promoted to an undergraduate university under the approval of Ministry of Education. In 2017, it was awarded as the first batch of model colleges and universities for applied talents training in Yunnan Province.

The university has two campuses, Haiyuan and Anning, covering an area of 87 hectares. The total value of teaching equipment is over 142 million RMB. The library has a paper collection of more than 2 million books and 1.18 million electronic books. The total assets are about 1.7billion RMB including complete infrastructures for teaching, scientific research and living.

As of 2019, the university has 36,347 full-time students registered in 6 secondary colleges, including College of Finance and Accounting, College of International Business, College of Art and Media, College of Education, College of Engineering, and College of Medicine. Yunnan University of Business Management offers 36 undergraduate majors and 57 junior college level majors, covering 8 disciplines including management, economics, engineering, medicine, education, literature, art and law. In 2019, there are more than 1,500 full-time teachers, including more than 500 teachers with ranks above assistant professor, more than 800 teachers with master's degree or above, and undertake the task of practical teaching to the enterprise industry elites.

The university has formed an educational ecological chain of "administration, production, teaching, research and application". It has established 4 provincial experimental teaching centers, 6 provincial famous-teachers' studios, 1 provincial key laboratory, 1 provincial scientific and technological innovation team, as well as built the Yunnan Ecological Agriculture Research Institute, Natural Medicine Research Institute, Modern Supply Chain Research Institute, Rural Revitalization Research Institute, Industrial Intelligent Application Technology Research Institute, Big Data Accounting Research Institute, and other scientific research institutions. There are total of 165 on campus practical teaching bases and 205 off-campus practical teaching bases in.

The university took the lead in setting up the Innovation and Entrepreneurship College among universities in the province, which have built platforms of innovation and entrepreneurship teaching, practice and incubation, and established the College Students' Online Business Entrepreneurship Park and Anning Micro Enterprise Entrepreneurship Park. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship College has been qualified as Four-star Level Entrepreneurship Park by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China. The Entrepreneurship rate of 2017's undergraduate graduates reached 10.47%, ranking the first in 576 undergraduate colleges and universities in China. The school's innovation research project, "Construction and Practice of Applied University Entrepreneurship Education System" won the first prize of the 8th Yunnan Provincial Teaching Achievement. In the Fifth China Internet Plus Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, Students from the Yunnan University of Business Management has won a gold medal.

In recent years, the teachers of the university have presided over 100 provincial and department level research topics, published more than 60 textbooks and academic works, issued nearly 4000 research papers, had 1 Project from the National Social Science Fund and 1 Project from Ministry of Education. The Gene Phenotype Inducing technology (GPIT) in national 863 Project, developed by the Yunnan Ecological Agriculture Research Institute, is widely used in the fields of agricultural production and environmental protection. In 2019, Yunnan University of Business Management is ranked 55th on the National Ranking of Scientific Research Competitiveness of Private Colleges and Universities. It is the highest rank among all the private colleges and universities in Yunnan Province.

The university adheres to the concept of internationalization on and employs more than ten foreign teachers from the United States, Canada, Germany, Spain, Russia, Pakistan, Thailand, South Korea, South Africa and other countries to teach in the institution. It has built partnerships with more than 50 foreign universities and established a Preparatory College for Studying Abroad, which serves as a platform for students and teachers who want to go study abroad.

In recent years, the employment rate of university graduates has remained above 98%. For nine consecutive years, the university has been awarded with “the First Prize in the Assessment of the Responsibility of the Target of Employment and Entrepreneurship of College Graduates in Yunnan Province”.
